FAQs About Visiting Ballarat Wildlife Park

What time should I arrive to make the most of the day?

Arriving earlier in the day, particularly on weekdays, gives you the best chance to catch every keeper talk and explore the grounds at an easy pace before it gets busier.

How long does it take to walk around the park?

Most visitors spend two to three hours exploring the grounds and watching presentations, though many extend their visit further to fit in encounters or a café break.

Is the park accessible for all visitors?

Paths are mostly concrete or gravel and suit wheelchairs and prams, with some uneven or sloped sections. Visitors should bring their own mobility aids, as none are available to hire on-site.

What should I bring for the visit?

Closed-toe shoes, sun protection and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended, since most of the park is outdoors. A change of layers is worth packing in cooler months.

Are food and drink options available on-site?

Yes. The licensed café serves meals, snacks and drinks daily from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and you’re also welcome to bring your own food for the picnic areas.

How can I get to the park using public transport?

Take a V/Line train to Ballarat Railway Station, then a short taxi, rideshare or local bus for the final 10 to 25 minutes to the park.
